This one fell a bit short for me. I am on the fence about reading the sequel that comes out next year. There are other similar books I would recommend over this one without a doubt.
Book Review: An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
This story of mystery, prophecy, and overcoming oppression is utterly enthralling. I absolutely can’t wait to read the next book in this series!
Mini Book Review: The Bone Shard Daughter by Andrea Stewart
Honestly, I’m still not really sure what I think about this book. It was different to say the least. Overall, it was kind of bland, not really good or bad per se. It just didn’t really make me feel anything nor did it captivate me in any way.
Mini Book Review: Daughter of Sparta by Claire M. Andrews
A tale of a female Spartan hero – say less! Everything you would expect from this book it delivers. Yet another book I’m dying for the sequel to release in 2022.
Mini Book Review: Year One by Nora Roberts
I am saddened that I didn’t enjoy this that much. I love Nora Roberts, but I just couldn’t get into this one. Overall, I was just kind of disappointed at the blandness, a stark contrast to many of her other renowned novels.
Book Review: The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi
It was good but not great – a tad cliché and disappointing with the plot and world-building but the characters saved this story.
Book Review: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
I can’t wait to pick up the next in the series. If you love found family, action and adventure, urban fantasy, political intrigue, with splashes of magical realism, you will love this book.
Book Review: The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
Overall, it was good, but I felt it a bit lacking to be great. I didn’t quite understand the hype surrounding this book, as it was anything monumental or particularly memorable. Again, it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t amazing either. It’s not a book that left any lasting impression on my heart. I am still interested enough in the plot to pick up the next in the series.
Book Review: Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Bashardoust
This book is a fun, light read. Overall, I enjoy this story and I would recommend it to anyone who loves darker fairytales, gritty female protagonists, and coming-of-age struggles.
