Y’all… I really don’t get the hype for this one. I hated the two main characters so much. I ended up DNFing because I just didn’t care and couldn’t do it anymore.
The Art of Prophecy (The War Arts Saga #1) by Wesley Chu
I really struggled to get into this one. It sounded like something I’d really love but I think it just wasn’t for me.
Zhara (Guardians of the Dawn #1) by S. Jae-Jones
This was so terribly disappointing. The concepts are so freaking cool and the execution of them is severely lacking in follow through. It definitely needed to go through several more drafts before accomplishing its spectacular potential. I wanted so much to enjoy this and, sadly, I did not.
DNF: Mister Magic by Kiersten White
I was really hoping this one would be better than her previous horror novel from last year. Sadly, it wasn’t.
Ebony Gate (Phoenix Hoard #1) by Julia Vee and Ken Bebelle
I think this might be a case of just not for me? I ended up DNFing. I just couldn’t get into it. I wasn’t feeling any connection to the characters. And the plot was really slow.
Immortal Longings (Flesh and False Gods #1) by Chloe Gong
I had really high hopes for this one but it just didn’t live up to my expectations. Fans of Gong may love it, but avid readers of adult fantasy will find it lacking depth.
Blood of a Fae: Queen of Roses (#1) & Court of Claws (#2) by Briar Boleyn
The synopsis promised so much and I truly thought this had the potential to be a five star read for me. However, I’m not sure it entirely lived up to my expectations.
Ruthless Gods: Wolf God (#1) & Hunter’s Kiss (#2) by Veronica Douglas
I want to start by saying that I truly thought this could be a five star read for me. It seems like something I would really love. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this one like I thought I would.
I’m just not that into it: The Ferryman by Justin Cronin
I wasn’t motivated enough to slog through the rest of this beast. It’s a DNF from me.
Sadly, it’s a DNF for me: ARC Review of Where Darkness Blooms by Andrea Hannah
I don’t think it’s bad by any means, but I think this one just isn’t for me. I failed to engage with it on a deeper level. I will probably be in the minority with this one so take my review with a grain of salt.
I’m sorry, but it’s a DNF for me: House of Cotton by Monica Brashears (ARC Review)
I was excited to read something gothic and gritty with a powerful message. I’m not one to shy away from reading books with difficult topics and emotional stories. But this story was completely lost on me because I couldn’t break through the writing style.
