Publisher’s Synopsis:
“She is a beautiful, affluent, self-involved and mildly neurotic London socialite. He is Britain’s most photographed bad-boy lothario who broke her heart. But Magnolia Parks and BJ Ballentine are meant to be, and everyone knows it. They’re in the stars… just suspended in a strange kind of love that looks like hurting each other a lot of the time: She dates other people to keep him at bay; he sleeps with other girls to get back at her for it. But at the end of their every sad endeavour to get over one another, it’s still each other they crawl back to. But their dysfunction is catching up with them, pulling at their seams and fraying the world they’ve built; a world where neither has to ever let the other go completely. As the cracks start to show and secrets begin to surface, Magnolia and BJ are finally forced to face the formidable question they’ve been avoiding all their lives: how many loves do you really get in a lifetime?”
My Review:
Y’all… I really don’t get the hype for this one. I hated the two main characters so much. They are not good people… at all. Especially BJ. They were both very immature and whiny. Their relationship was extremely toxic, and not in any way endearing. And I got so sick of the endless clothes descriptions. I understand that’s her “quirk” but on like every page it just became annoying. I know the second book is about Daisy and, honestly, I liked her more in the two pages that she was in here than I did Magnolia in the 200+ pages that I read of her. This was just not for me. Maybe I’m misunderstanding the point of this book, but I really hated it. I was rolling my eyes the entire time and fed up with every interaction. I ended up DNFing because I just didn’t care and couldn’t do it anymore. For some reason though I do kind of want to read Daisy’s book, but at the same time, do I really want to do that to myself? Has anyone read this one and hated it but then loved the second one? Let me know because maybe I’ll give that one a try instead. I really wanted to join the hype train on this series, but sadly, I hated it.
