This just really wasn’t the most enjoyable Clytemnestra retelling for me personally, but I am still interested in reading this author’s other retellings with characters I’m not quite as familiar with.
ARC Review: The Djinn Waits a Hundred Years – Historical/Horror/Fantasy
This was a mess. It was like the book itself didn’t know what it wanted to be or say – a buffet of genres with no central motivation. It just left me confused, wanting, wondering what I just read and why.
ARC Review: The Resort by Sara Ochs – Mystery/Thriller
This just didn’t work for me. I feel like the bare-bones and concepts of a great story were there, but the execution needed more developing and reworking to make the reading experience better.
ARC Review: Nightwatching by Tracy Sierra – Mystery/Thriller
I hate being the “bad guy” about someone’s debut, but this was rather disappointing to me. I’d been hearing a lot of anticipation for this one, so I was excited to read it but, sadly, it wasn’t great.
ARC Review: Only If You’re Lucky by Stacy Willingham – Mystery/Thriller
Well… it wasn’t great. I’m severely disappointed. This was definitely a flop. Not sure what happened with this one but I’m really sad about it.
Emily Wilde’s Map of the Otherlands (Emily Wilde #2) by Heather Fawcett
I don’t think I’ll be continuing this series if there is more to come. This second book has lost all of my interest. My advice, read the first one for all its worth and pretend that it ends there.
The Engagement Party by Finley Turner
It was kind of bland and forgettable, basic in its plot and execution. I never fully engaged with it like I wanted to.
Thicker Than Water by Megan Collins
I cannot recommend this. I didn’t enjoy it and I don’t think others will that much either. It wasn’t a thrilling read. It just wasn’t great and with so many books and so little time, I’d say skip it. There are better family murder dramas out there than this one.
The Art of Prophecy (The War Arts Saga #1) by Wesley Chu
I really struggled to get into this one. It sounded like something I’d really love but I think it just wasn’t for me.
Good Bad Girl by Alice Feeney
I am so devastatingly disappointed that I didn’t love this. This was one of my top most-anticipated releases for this year. I have absolutely devoured her previous books. But this one… oh my, what a flop. It fell so flat for me.
The Scarlet Veil (The Scarlet Veil #1) by Shelby Mahurin
I’ll probably be in the minority here yet again, so don’t take my words to heart if you loved this. But I won’t be continuing with this series. I think die-hard fans of S&D are going to love this new series, especially if you actually liked Celie. For me that series really lost its luster after the first book. I was truly hopeful but this just failed to get it back again for me.
Pretty Reckless (All Saints High #1) by L.J. Shen
I was so excited to get a copy of this one. But, I have to be honest, it was really a struggle for me. I don’t really know how to feel about it.
