It’s a fun, quick, easy read that I think most YA fantasy readers would enjoy. It’s a very solid YA fantasy book and the writing style is perfect for someone who wants something that isn’t too dense.
The Art of Prophecy (The War Arts Saga #1) by Wesley Chu
I really struggled to get into this one. It sounded like something I’d really love but I think it just wasn’t for me.
Ruthless Gods: Wolf God (#1) & Hunter’s Kiss (#2) by Veronica Douglas
I want to start by saying that I truly thought this could be a five star read for me. It seems like something I would really love. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this one like I thought I would.
What we all wish our high school experience was like: Misfit by Elle Kennedy
This book is everything we wish our high school experience was like. Full of angst, drama, mystery, and illicit activities, Misfit has everything that will keep you turning the pages.
Historical Horror at It’s Best: All the Blood We Share by Camilla Bruce
I really enjoyed this book, more than I ever thought I would. It was everything creepy, gritty, and gory that you could want and expect from a novel about a family of serial killers.
Spare Yourself From This Problematic Mess (Warning: Don’t read this review if you don’t like hot takes!): Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six by Lisa Unger
Six couples rent a luxury cabin for a weekend getaway… What could go wrong? Everything. Everything about this book went wrong. I can’t recommend this aimless absurdity of a book. Honestly, spare yourself from this mess.
December 2022 Book of the Month Selections
This month’s book selections are here! Book of the Month is one of my favorite subscription boxes for readers and book lovers. I get so excited seeing that blue box at my door! This is one subscription I’m hooked on and they also have a great rewards program too. Every month they curate a selection of books for you to choose from. They are hardbacks, highly-anticipated new releases, from a range of genres.
Book Review: The Last Party (DC Morgan #1) by Clare Mackintosh
While not one of my favorite mystery/thrillers, it’s still an enjoyable read with a delightful setting. This was my first experience reading from this author, and I do like the writing style in general. I have another book by her I’m reading next so we’ll see how it goes!
ARC Review: Queen of Myth and Monsters (Adrian X Isolde #2) by Scarlett St. Clair
This is such a great sequel! The stakes are even higher in the plot and it sets us up really well for the third book. I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves paranormal fantasy with equal parts epic kingdoms and spice.
ARC Review: The Poison Season by Mara Rutherford
The island of Endla is host to the last remaining wandering forest, and surrounded by a deadly poisonous lake that protects it from outsiders. Leelo has grown up here on the island of Endla. As she is taking her rightful place within the community, she begins to question the way of things. This feel-good story, endearing characters, creepy setting, and tumultuous sequence of events is sure to enthrall readers.
Book Review: Things We Never Got Over (Knockemout #1) by Lucy Score
Do you ever feel like sometimes the perfect book just happens to find its way into your hands at the time when you needed it most? Yep, that’s this one for me. You have to read this. Don’t be skeptical, don’t rebel against the popularity, just read it. Let it take you for a ride on its emotional roller coaster. You won’t regret it.
ARC Review: Curse of Shadows (Amassia #2) by A.K. Wilder
When I saw the ARC of this book available on Netgalley… I’ve never sent a request so fast. This book is one of my most anticipated releases for this year and, oh man, it was everything I could have hoped for. This story just gets better and better – an epic second book and you don’t want to miss it. I can’t believe it’s not more popular!
