I couldn’t get into this one at all. From the premise, it sounded like it had everything I could want in a story. But something about it just didn’t connect with me.
Silver Nitrate by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
As slow and strange as a sloth. It was all flat and bland. I’m afraid many, many readers are going to be let down by this one, especially considering how popular this author is and how beloved many of her books are. This one though, it’s a flop for me.
Just Another Missing Person by Gillian McAllister
I DNF’d this at 250 pages – which is just wild to give up after getting so far. That alone should tell you everything you need to know about my experience. I just couldn’t do it anymore and I did not care at all how it ended.
North of Nowhere by Allison Brennan
This was a difficult one to get into. It almost felt like we were put into the middle of a story. I needed more to really engage me with what was happening.
The Throne of Broken Gods (Gods and Monsters #2) by Amber V. Nicole
Second books are hard. Unfortunately, I feel like this one fell into that dreaded sequel hole. This really needed much more time spent in the developmental editing phase.
Heated Rivals (The O’Malleys #2) by Katee Robert
I’ve read several books by this author so far and every single one just feels like the same book. I really hate the instalust. I ended up DNFing this series because I just have no interest to continue and this may just not be an author for me.
Chasm (The Glacian Trilogy #2) by Stacey McEwan
Another sequel that fell prey to the second book curse. This was a slump. There was nothing driving the story. This will definitely be one of my most disappointing reads for the year, just because of how much I loved the first book and was looking forward to the sequel.
I didn’t connect with this one: Speak of the Devil by Rose Wilding
The premise sounded fantastic but the execution of it just wasn’t engaging or compelling enough for me.
A Spark in the Cinders by Jenny Elder Moke
I absolutely loved Curse of the Spector Queen! So when I saw Moke was writing something new, I just had to read it. But I’m sorry to say that this did not live up to my expectations in any way. I could not get into this.
Ugh… I’m so disappointed: Fractal Noise (Fractalverse #0) by Christopher Paolini
Ugh… I’m so disappointed. This was one of my top ten most highly anticipated books for the year and it really let me down.
Pieces of Blue by Holly Goldberg Sloan
I think this is simply a case of maybe it’s just not for me – so take my review with a pinch of salt and don’t let it influence you.
No one is more disappointed by this review than myself: A Crown of Ivy and Glass by Claire Legrand
No one is more disappointed in this rating than me. I had the highest of hopes for this book. It is one of my most anticipated reads for this year and it failed me so spectacularly I’m actually shocked and internally cringing to have to write this review.
