At each choice she encounters along her path, she unravels the mysteries of her past and begins to understand the purpose of her future.
Review:
This book is a fun, light read. I really love the grey-area protagonist, as Soraya battles her self-worth and grows to understand what it really means to be good or evil. In fact, most of the characters in the story reside somewhere between good and evil, which I enjoyed as a reflection of the true human condition. The story was full of exciting action and hooked me in with mystery and suspense in the first few pages. I also love the fairy tale-esque theme of the book. The plot itself feels a little too convenient and predictable at times, not enough so that it ruins the story, but enough to bother me. There are also extensive monologues, which I feel could have been better balanced with the other parts of the story. Overall, I enjoy this story and I would recommend it to anyone who loves darker fairytales, gritty female protagonists, and coming-of-age struggles.
