Overall, it was an enjoyable read and I do love this book, even with a few nit-picky issues along the way. Anyone who is familiar with Jodi Picoult’s design of perfectly flawed characters and her manner of crafting stories that make you contemplate your existence, will also really like this book – even if it is not quite up to par with some of her previous, more spectacular works.
Mini Book Review: Daughter of Sparta by Claire M. Andrews
A tale of a female Spartan hero – say less! Everything you would expect from this book it delivers. Yet another book I’m dying for the sequel to release in 2022.
Mini Book Review: Year One by Nora Roberts
I am saddened that I didn’t enjoy this that much. I love Nora Roberts, but I just couldn’t get into this one. Overall, I was just kind of disappointed at the blandness, a stark contrast to many of her other renowned novels.
Book Review: The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi
It was good but not great – a tad cliché and disappointing with the plot and world-building but the characters saved this story.
Book Review: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
I can’t wait to pick up the next in the series. If you love found family, action and adventure, urban fantasy, political intrigue, with splashes of magical realism, you will love this book.
Book Review: The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
Overall, it was good, but I felt it a bit lacking to be great. I didn’t quite understand the hype surrounding this book, as it was anything monumental or particularly memorable. Again, it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t amazing either. It’s not a book that left any lasting impression on my heart. I am still interested enough in the plot to pick up the next in the series.
Book Review: Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Bashardoust
This book is a fun, light read. Overall, I enjoy this story and I would recommend it to anyone who loves darker fairytales, gritty female protagonists, and coming-of-age struggles.
Book Review: Little Nothing by Marisa Silver
Dark, cruel, and not for the lighthearted, Little Nothing is strange in all the best ways. Hard to pin in any one genre, it is somewhere between literary fiction and magical realism. If you are looking for a book that makes you grapple with some of humanity’s most universal and existential crises, this is it.
Book Review: Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty
Nine people travel to a remote health resort for a ten-day retreat, hoping to transform their lives, but nothing is at it seems at Tranquillum House. I applaud Moriarty’s ability to leave no detail overlooked. Everything had a purpose, although not always apparent at first.
Book Review: Enchant the Night by Amanda Ashley
Overall I believe that Amanda Ashley is a fantastic writer, whom I highly recommend for anyone that loves paranormal romances. Although this book did have its flaws, I still enjoyed it as an avid reader in this genre.
