It’s a fun, quick, easy read that I think most YA fantasy readers would enjoy. It’s a very solid YA fantasy book and the writing style is perfect for someone who wants something that isn’t too dense.
Midnight Showing (Malice Compendium #2) by Megan Shepherd
This was a creepy, exciting ride and I highly recommend this series! It’s the perfect blend of horror, mystery, thriller, and even a bit of fantasy.
The Mystery Guest by Nita Prose
Y’all… Molly is one of the most iconic characters ever. She’s quirky and fun and wholly unique. These books are fun, fast-paced, easy, and enjoyable reads.
When I’m Dead (Black Harbor #3) by Hannah Morrissey
This is the third book in a series but I read it as a standalone and I felt that it worked perfectly well as such. I enjoyed the writing style, she will definitely be an auto-read author for me in the future. I think the hype for this series is well-deserved.
Magnolia Parks (Magnolia Parks Universe #1) by Jessa Hastings
Y’all… I really don’t get the hype for this one. I hated the two main characters so much. I ended up DNFing because I just didn’t care and couldn’t do it anymore.
This Dark Descent (This Dark Descent #1) by Kalyn Josephson
I highly recommend this book to all fantasy readers. I can easily see it becoming the next phenomenon in this genre and I can’t wait to continue the series. And, y’all, this cover is freaking stunning! I will definitely be getting a physical copy of this book when it comes out!
Sister of Starlit Seas (Viridian Deep #3) by Terry Brooks
You’ll instantly fall in love with the characters, be swept away into the action-packed plots, and wish you could live in Viridian Deep. This series totally deserves more hype!
The Art of Prophecy (The War Arts Saga #1) by Wesley Chu
I really struggled to get into this one. It sounded like something I’d really love but I think it just wasn’t for me.
Silence and Shadow (Blood and Moonlight #2) by Erin Beaty
This was a solid sequel! I really think this series deserves more hype! It’s an interesting blend of fantasy and mystery. It’s dark and nuanced and complex.
This book is fantasy perfection: Champion of Fate (Heromaker #1) by Kendare Blake
This book is fantasy perfection. The kind of story everyone hopes they write. Kendare Blake is proving to be a master of writing with this one. I cannot recommend it highly enough. You absolutely have to read this book!
The Scarlet Veil (The Scarlet Veil #1) by Shelby Mahurin
I’ll probably be in the minority here yet again, so don’t take my words to heart if you loved this. But I won’t be continuing with this series. I think die-hard fans of S&D are going to love this new series, especially if you actually liked Celie. For me that series really lost its luster after the first book. I was truly hopeful but this just failed to get it back again for me.
The Midnight Kingdom (The Dark Gods #2) by Tara Sim
This is such a rich, complex fantasy and I loved finally getting to be transported back into this world Sim created. I love how much more depth we get into the story world and the lore. Excited for the epic conclusion!
