When I first saw an Egyptian-inspired fantasy, I was immediately excited to read this. However afterwards, I am middle of the road on this one. It was good, not as great as I felt it had the potential to be.
It was just an okay read: Thief Liar Lady by D.L. Soria
This one had some things that I really loved and some things that didn’t work well for me. Overall, it was just an okay read. I needed more from it.
Flames of Mira (The Rift Walker #1) by Clay Harmon
I’m landing on three stars for this one because I had such high-highs and low-lows while reading this book. There were moments where I was so invested and then others where I wanted to DNF it.
Blood of a Fae: Queen of Roses (#1) & Court of Claws (#2) by Briar Boleyn
The synopsis promised so much and I truly thought this had the potential to be a five star read for me. However, I’m not sure it entirely lived up to my expectations.
Wings Once Cursed and Bound (Mythwoven #1) by Piper J. Drake
I have mixed feelings about this one. On the one hand I was captivated and absorbed, but then there were moments that really pulled me out of the story altogether.
Didn’t live up to my expectations: Atalanta by Jennifer Saint
It wasn’t a bad read by any means, it just wasn’t on par with my expectations from what I know this author is capable of creating.
Goodreads Giveaways! ARC Reviews: Loki’s Ring, The Wind Knows My Name, and The Instructor
Goodreads Giveaways ARC Reviews: Loki’s Ring by Stina Leicht – The Wind Knows My Name by Isabel Allende – The Instructor by T.R. Hendricks
Revelations (Belle Morte #2) by Bella Higgins
I think this is a really great series that a lot of people will love and I definitely recommend it if you like vampires.
Things We Hide From the Light (Knockemout #2) by Lucy Score
Ugh… I have to be honest y’all… this was definitely not as good as the first book in this series. I wanted to love it way more than I ever actually did.
A Solid YA Horror and Survival Thriller: The Lake House by Sarah Beth Durst
This story is a solid young adult horror and survival thriller. This is a positive three star read for me. While I didn’t absolutely love it, it was still an enjoyable read. It’s fun, even if not the most mind-blowingly memorable.
Not As Good As I Was Hoping: The Last Heir to Blackwood Library by Hester Fox
In theory and conceptually, this book has all the things I should love. But the execution just isn’t compelling enough. There are parts that I like, but equally parts that I struggled with. Even though this particular story isn’t my favorite, I liked the writing style and world-building and the conclusion of events.
I just failed to connect with this one. (Play the Fool by Lina Chern)
From the concept of the story, I really thought this would be one I’d enjoy. But it just wasn’t for me. I really did like the style and writing, but I just failed to connect with this particular storyline and characters. It’s not bad; I’m just not blown away. Even though my experience with this story isn’t glowing, I think there’s still an audience for this one.
