My honest thoughts about this month’s selections:
Wow, there are so many to choose from! I’m not sure why they decided to only give us five picks when they were planning to have so many add-ons. I think it would have made more sense to have seven picks to choose from instead. But, that’s a minor gripe.
I’m just thrilled that there are so many really freaking good ones that I was hoping for!
My box is absolutely going to be full this month!
These are the four books I chose from December’s selections:
- I read Kate Alice Marshall’s previous book and loved it so I can’t wait to finally read her newest thriller release. So excited we get to read this one almost two months early before its release.
- The Frozen River is a book I’ve had on my radar. I don’t read a ton of historical fiction, but there’s just something about this one that really grabbed my attention and I can’t wait to read it.
- I read some of Erika Johansen’s previous fantasy series and I liked it okay. I was interested to see if she’d ever be writing something new and when I saw this one it really intrigued me. Plus, it’s the perfect holiday read!
- The Other Mothers is another book that has been on my radar for a while. I’m glad to see BOTM pick this one because now I’m really excited that it must be worth the read. I think it will be a good popcorn domestic thriller.
- My fifth book for my box this month is from their backlist and has been on my tbr for a few months. I decided to also get Shark Heart by Emily Habeck, which was a selection from August of this year. I was a little reluctant when it first came out because I wasn’t sure it would be something I’d like, but I’ve heard nothing but amazing reviews from people about it so I’m finally going to give it a read!
I would have also chosen The Mystery Guest by Nita Prose because I absolutely adored the first book in that series. However, I received an early copy of this one from the publisher so I’ve already read it!
Honestly, I’m really happy with this month! Especially considering I skipped last month, I’m thrilled to have a full box this time. I can see that some people might be a little disappointed in the five choices, since two of them were published months ago. But, we did get two really early releases. For whatever reason, there aren’t a lot of books being published this December, so I can imagine their options were probably limited because of it.
Overall, there are some really big name authors on this list, and some highly anticipated debuts. There is a very wide range of genres and choices and I think this would be an amazing month to sign up if you haven’t already.
