I actually decided to make this my selection for the month! I was so fortunate to receive a digital ARC for early review, and I knew it was going to be one that I wanted on my shelves. I purchased a special edition with sprayed edges, but decided to get this copy as well so that I can re-read and annotate it.

This is going to be one of my favorite books of the year! I absolutely devoured this book. Definitely a must-read. So happy I had the opportunity to review an ARC, and I loved it so much I got myself a physical copy. This is probably one of the best thriller books I’ve ever read and I can’t recommend it highly enough.
Here After by Amy Lin

Here After is a love story and a meditation on the ways in which Kurtis’ death shatters any set ideas Amy ever held about grief, strength, and memory. Its power will last with you long after the final page.”

Blurb: “Their name? The objectors. Their job? To break off weddings as hired. Their dilemma? They might just be in love with each other.”
I am excited and not at all surprised to see Painter finally show up on BOTM. This author has taken over with the romance readers in the past year on all the book socials. I think this is going to be a very popular add-on.
The Other Valley by Scott Alexander Howard

Details: Debut, Cerebral, Underdog, Brainy, No quotation marks
Blurb: “A literary speculative novel about an isolated town neighbored by its own past and future.”

I really considered picking this as an add-on. Something about it just sounds really intriguing and I love a science-fiction blended story. I have so many books on my tbr right now though, so I think I might wait and see how people are liking it first, and then get it from the library if I decide to read it.

My honest thoughts about this month’s books:
I think there are some really great selections this month!
If I hadn’t already read several of the selections, I’d be seriously struggling to narrow my box down to just five books.
I’m also so freaking excited to see another Romantasy option this month!!! Here’s to hoping that this is going to become a regular thing with them.
Books I chose for my box this month:
My primary BOTM selection for the month is A Fate Inked in Blood, and I chose one new add-on, Murder Road.
BOTM also recently announced their book of the year winner for 2023, Yours Truly. As a BFF rewards member (learn more about member rewards here), you can get your choice of one of the BOTY nominations or winners for FREE! So I have added this lovely golden edition to my box as well. I have yet to read this but I keep hearing everyone rave about it so I’m dying to finally read a book from Jimenez.
Since I had some room in my box, I decided to also add a book that has been on my backlist tbr for a while, The Great Alone. I read The Four Winds and it was a surprising five-star for me so I’m excited to read more from this mega-popular author. I really like the setting and plot described in the synopsis, so that’s why I decided to pick up this one next.
