This month’s book selections are here!
Book of the Month is one of my favorite subscription boxes for readers and book lovers. I get so excited seeing that blue box at my door! This is one subscription I’m hooked on and they also have a great rewards program too.
Every month they curate a selection of books for you to choose from. They are hardbacks, highly-anticipated new releases, from a range of genres. You can choose one or more from that month’s selections and from previous months, or skip that month and save your credit for later.
If you aren’t a member yet or want to learn all about how it works and if it’s worth it, here’s everything you need to know about BOTM!

I have to say, I’m actually a little disappointed by this month’s selections. We have five to pick from this month, which is their average amount, but recently we’ve been getting seven.
I’m incredibly frustrated that Bloodmarked, the sequel to Legendborn (which was a previous BOTM pick last year), is an add-on, rather than one of the picks for this month. I don’t understand why it couldn’t have been. This is the one I was really hoping for this month as a new release, and one of my most anticipated for the year. Now I have to get another book I wasn’t really wanting just to get this one!? Ugh.
There are two other new add-ons this month that I’m really surprised aren’t picks instead, The Cloisters and Signal Fires, because of how highly anticipated they have been. Both have over five hundred advanced copy reviews already. These would honestly have been my three picks for the month if it were possible. But no.
Sorry for the mini rant, but seriously, I just can’t understand why we can’t pick any of these books as we please, rather than forcing us to have to choose one of only their picks of five, even though they’re adding five others too. I mean, let us choose from all ten, why not? I need someone to please explain to me why this isn’t feasible.
And don’t get me wrong, I think there are some really great books for this month’s picks, and a good variety too. But it seems like the books I really want are always add-ons. Alas, what can I do?
ANYWAYS….
Here are November’s selections:
We Are the Light by Matthew Quick
Genre: Contemporary Fiction
Pages: 256
From the author of The Silver Linings Playbook, I expect this one to be a super popular choice. This is a story about grief, love, and healing. We all have guardian angels in our lives, even if they come in ways we would never expect.
The Wilderwomen by Ruth Emmie Lang
Genre: Fantasy/Magical Realism
Pages: 336
This is another book I think will be incredibly popular, and one that I definitely considered choosing. It is by the author of Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstances. One sister has the ability to see the future, and the other can experience other people’s memories. Together, they are trying to discover what happened to their mother who disappeared.
The Last Party by Clare Mackintosh
Genre: Mystery/Thriller
Pages: 432
I love this author and I have high expectations for this book. This is the book that I am choosing to get this month. I’ve been really into mystery/thrillers lately and I know this one won’t disappoint. Rhys is found dead after a New Year’s Eve party. Everyone in their small community is a suspect. I can’t wait to see how all the secrets unfold.
White Horse by Erika T. Wurth
Genre: Horror
Pages: 320
I am so glad to see this book as an option this month. The perfect title for Native American Heritage month. Kari is haunted by her mother’s spirit and inexplicable creature. She is searching for the truth long buried. It is said to be a gritty, raw, eerie, and dysfunctional story and I imagine it will be a gripping read.
Someday, Maybe by Onyi Nwabineli
Genre: Literary Fiction
Pages: 352
This is a debut novel about a Nigerian family. A young woman finds her husband after he commits suicide. It is said to be a very emotional story and richly steeped in culture, and family/friend dynamics. The synopsis is quite brief but striking. I think this will be an intense read that literary readers will love.
New Add-Ons for November:
The Rewind by Allison Winn Scotch
Genre: Romance
Pages: 368
Nostalgia is in these days. And for those of us who loved the 90’s, this book has the perfect setting. A rom-com from a popular author, this story is about two exes who wake up with rings on their fingers and no idea how they got there. I’m getting second-chance romance vibes from the synopsis and this book sounds like it will be a good time.
The Cloisters by Katy Hays
Genre: Mystery/Fantasy/Gothic
Pages: 320
This is a debut novel full of academics, researchers, a medieval art museum, the history of divination, and a deck of mysterious tarot cards that can possibly predict the future. I can’t wait for this gripping, haunting story. It is said to be sinister, gothic, and genre-blending. Honestly, it sounds like the perfect read for me. I will definitely be getting this one as an add-on this month.
Bloodmarked by Tracy Deonn
Genre: YA Fantasy
Pages: 576
This is the sequel to Legendborn, Deonn’s debut novel last year, which was probably my favorite read of the entire year. I need this book immediately. Arthurian legend at its finest, with complex world building, secret societies, exciting romances, a diverse cast of characters, and an action-packed plot. I will definitely be re-reading the first book prior to this one because it was just so good and I want to remember every detail before going forward. (Still mad this isn’t a pick. Sorry, had to say it one more time.)
Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan
Genre: Romance/Contemporary
Pages: 400
This is sure to be an incredibly popular one, from a very popular romance author. The early reviews are staggeringly high. It is said to be a story about hope, healing, and the meaning of true love over time and through obstacles. It sounds like a very emotional and compelling story. Plus, this cover is gorgeous!
Signal Fires by Dani Shapiro
Genre: Literary/Historical
Pages: 240
This is the first book published by this prolific author in fifteen years. This is a story about families, secrets, and tragedy. An accident that happened in the eighties has lasting consequences. I must say I am very much looking forward to it. I think it will be a fast, impactful read.
